Dr Sabrina Lei, currently the Director Tawasul International, is an emerging
Italian Muslim philosopher and cultural activist. As a Western Muslim scholar,
Dr Sabrina is uniquely positioned to conduct the cultural dialogue of Islam with
the West. She is deeply interested in projects that explore Islam’s relationship
with the West, Islam and the question of civil society, the image of Islam and
Muslims in today’s public space, the true meaning of the Sunna of the Prophet
(peace be upon him), the regeneration of the Muslim scholarship, the issues
related to the rights of women in Islam, etc. Dr Sabrina argues for a mutually
beneficial dialogue between the world of Islam and the West. And her long-term
aim is to create a new Islamic discourse rooted in the humanistic principles of
Islam, accepting the diversity of human experience, as manifested in today’s
globalised world in the form of different religious and cultural discourses.
Finally, for the past some years, Dr Sabrina has been at the forefront of
introducing the true and peaceful face of Islam to Italians and other Westerners.
She also works to gain a respectful space for Islam and Muslims in the West.
